Building and Machining

The last step of any design process is the transformation from a conceptual idea to a tangible reality through its construction - an aspect I find both immensely enjoyable and rewarding. My journey has been enriched by the valuable experience in the Design Workshop at Brown University, where I have honed my hands-on skills in disciplines such as woodwork, metalwork, 3D printing and laser cutting. Moreover, I have done projects in the Machine Shop using machinery and tools such as a lathe, drill press, bandsaw, CNC or a mill. This tool practice has not only enhanced my accuracy skills when creating real-life features, but has also only raised my awareness on the importance of accurate and clear 3D modeling in order to bring the design to life. Whether creating pieces with precision machinery or using techniques such as 3D printing, the journey from concept to creation is a rewarding experience. Moreover, my experiences when building have underscored the importance of effective teamwork, where collaborative efforts are essential when navigating complex assemblies and machinery.
