In this research project, a lithium sample was tested for stress evolutions with a MOSS (multi optical stress sensor) system , for the design of structural batteries. For this purpose, I designed a custom-made insulating cell. The setup within the electrochemical cell was a 1’ diameter quartz wafer, a copper thin layer and then a PEO (polyethylene oxide) solution. Moreover, it was necessary to include electrical leads, while maintaining the cell completely insulated to avoid contact with air.
